Some applications require user interaction as the app needs to be closed to perform an update. To avoid productivity interruption, by default the user can defer the update up to three times after which the update will be forcibly applied. The number of deferrals can also be controlled using the preference key .

Users can update manually at any time by opening the Catalog App, navigating to the Updates section in the sidebar and initiating an individual update or all available update at once.

Do Not Disturb

Apps that require user interaction respect the user’s Focus state, such as Do Not Disturb. When a user has any Focus state enabled, the user interaction popup is not displayed and instead counts as a deferral. However, if all deferrals have passed, a final warning will be shown, disregarding the focus state and updating the application. This ensures that update enforcement remains effective while maintaining compliance for organizations
